When is the best time to visit?
As they are blessed with perfect year-round weather, any time of the year is a great time to visit. However different times of the year may be better suited depending on what you’re looking to do while you’re there.
There are two opposing trade winds that tend to dictate the weather pattern. From October to March you’re looking at average wind speeds of 8 to 12 knots, whereas from May to September it reaches 10 to 20 knots which makes it ideal conditions for sailing.
An ideal time would be April and October for fairly wind-free conditions, as well water temperatures around 29 degrees means it’s the perfect time to get out swimming, snorkelling and diving.
Beaches
Follow in the footsteps of Pirates and head to Anse Forbans Beach, where swimming here is ideal in the most part, just avoid the southern part that leads to Anse Marie Louise. Marie Laure beach is perfect for those seeking a quieter day, it provides a more tranquil, island-style atmosphere that sets it apart.
If you’re looking for some great snorkelling, Anse Soleil is the place to be. It provides a wide stretch of sandy beach surrounded by shady trees. It is quite literally, off the beaten track, but it is well worth it. You’ll also find a small beach cafe serving up excellent seafood.
Flora & Fauna
Nowhere else on Earth will you find such unique endemic species such as the incredible Coco-de-mer, the largest seed in the world, and the jellyfish tree, with only 8 surviving examples.
Seychelles is also home to 2 UNESCO World Heritage Sites; Aldabra, the world’s largest coral atoll and Praslin’sVallée de Mai, once believed to be the original site of the Garden of Eden.
You’ll find the islands are a living museum of history and a sanctuary for some of the rarest species of flora and fauna on earth. Almost 50% of its landmass is set aside as reserves and national parks.
Things to do
It’s easy to think that Seychelles is only ideal for relaxation and lazy days, but you’ll be surprised to know it certainly packs a punch with how to spend your days.
